list recently removed programs

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition version 2002 w/ Service Pack 2.
Recently I used the add/remove programs tool to remove several programs that
were no longer being used. Unfortunately, I think that I deleted at least one
program that was still being used because I am having trouble accessing
certain files.
Is there a way to view a list of programs that have been removed?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance
 
The best way to fix this is to tell us what file extensions are causing
problems.
