Linux LiveCD *does* come in handy, I have to admit just once

A Windows based rescue disc would more than likely be illegal.
Bootable Windoze disks (e.g. Bart PE) are *only* usable on ONE box.
(After all, it is Windoze
and needs the stupid one-machine-only Windoze Registry.)
In order to deal with any infected drive,
that drive must be transplanted into that *ONE* box.

....and it does seem that one or the other of
the EULAs for the various paywares being used
would likely forbid building your own rescue disc
(without paying yet more to a corporation--or several).

The 'mini-XP' included on Hiren's boots on almost all machines you

It is not possible to negotiate terms with virus and malware
writers. You must reformat and re-install.

Please don't claim to speak on the Vxers or ex vsers halfs. You aren't
one of us, now or formally. And no, reformat and reinstall isn't always
necessary.
Your average windummy is a fawn and has not even the
basic skills to understand what a fly by infection means.

drive by download. Strickly speaking, infection is a viral term.

Well Mr, I vehemently disagree with you.

As a former virus writer and certified technician who retired from
blackhat arts 11 years ago; I tend not to care. You have an opinion and
only that.

That statement is stupid on so many levels.

Not least of which is that the Rescue Disk does establish a connection
to the internet, and asks if you want to download the latest
signatures, plus, 2008 is better than nothing, plus, I think Kaspersky
probably updates the freeware every so often so it's no doubt more
recent.

You are dealing with the lunatic 7 "The President of COLA" and something
about it being the inventor of the year one year. The clown is a sick soul.

Do you have the picture as to what you are dealing with?

LMAO! That's why Usenet is so great--it brings out the loons.

The links on that page are for old versions. Use the links I gave
you. I ran the kaspersky live CD, and it detected 48 malware on my PC.
Thankfully all were in my "malware collection" folder. The scan was very
slow, took > 4 hours, but at least I feel safer now. If you have never
detected malware in 9 years, I suggest you do a live-cd scan URGENTLY.
Please do not cross-post to linux groups. We are talking about MS
malware here, nothing to do with what your rescue disk boots off.

Thanks Shadow, I will do. One reason you get more viruses than me is
that you hunt for them. The most dangerous thing I do is surf for
free porn in the first three or four websites that show up in Google
when you type 'free porn', and to date I've not had any big problems
(couple of websites blocked by my browser, probably because they did
not exist).

But I'll do a slow scan anyway.

They don't care. All those Linux groups are for flaming. In fact,
more than half the so-called Linux advocates there are Windows users.
It's all just for fun, as Linux is a joke OS anyway.

LOL. See, you can tell people the truth and they still don't believe
you. Just like in the pirates of the carribean movie. "I'm going to
take your ship. I said no lies." What happens? he takes the ship.
hehehehe.

Yeah, that's why COLA and COLS are for flaming: lot's of low-lying
fruit (cakes) to pick (on) for trolls like me. They always fall for
the bait too...then complain about trolling. Either they are too
stupid or just asking for it. This clown Natural Philosopher is one
of the more denser of the participants, as you can tell.

Golly. And you think that movie is historical fact too I suppose?

Your whole posting style and use of language informs anyone who is
experienced as to exactly what sort of person you are.

No, but it was a perfect example. I told you the truth about me, 100%, no
lies, and you think I'm BSing. [g]

experienced at what? Writing code? hacking? bootlegging? Sure, I'd buy
that.

I was talking to this hacker who claims he can break into any computer
in the world, etc etc. Being a junior programmer myself I could not
say I believed him 100%, though he was more of a low-level machine
language guy like you so maybe he knows tricks that are not even
published in mainstream media. Of interest though is that he said
there is no difference between black hat and white hat hackers--they
both are the same thing. I've heard the same thing about crooks and
police in a cynical context.

So Dustin, in your retirement you could supplement your income by
working for the mafia being a black hat hacker instead of wasting your
time here. Or, in lieu of your "I'd buy that" comment, maybe you
already do?
