linksys WUSB11

Trying to configure older Linksys WUSB11 (USB)network
adapter. First installed wrong drivers, then downloaded
correct drivers, and manually updated drivers thru Device
Manager. This worked until (XP Home) computer was
rebooted. This caused old drivers to be reloaded. I could
repeat the process to get it working, but each time had
to manually reinstall the correct drivers after reboot. I
cannot delete the hardware to force the Hardware Wizard
to allow me to reinstall the adapter. Even when I
manually delete the adapter (thru Device Manager),
Windows rediscovers it and automatically loads the wrong
drivers. It keeps thinking it is WUSB11 Version 2.0, when
it is not. I was on the phone with Linksys for 4 hours,
and then spent another 2 getting the system back to where
it was. Any help would be appreciated.
