Linksys Wireless-B Adapter--computer not booting

I'm running Windows XP on a desktop and when I install the PCI Adapter, the
computer turns on but Windows will not load (i.e. my monitor screen is blank
and proccessor light doesn't come on). I've tried installing the drivers
first, then the adapter and nothing. When the adapter is not in computer
boots up as normal. Any one have any suggestions? Really appreciate it.
