Linksys WAG54G S router problem with Vista

Neil

Hi

When I start Vista, I get a message saying 'no or limited network
connectivity' I try all of the options to repair the connection, but
nothing works. If I then turn off my Linksys WAG54G S router, and restart,
it miraculously finds it and joins the network, and then connects to the
internet. I'm using a wired connection to the router rather than wireless.

I've checked the firmware for the router, and it's up to date. Still works
fine in XP.

Cheers

Have you checked to be sure that your the TCP/IP properties for your Lan
connectin are set exactly the same in Vista as they are in XP?
I have a WRT55AG and have no troubles with Vista.

If in this "reduced connection" mode, if you can still log into the router,
the issue is not going to be with your Vista, but your router itself. Vista
uses no different internet connection system than XP did.
Now, if you are having problems logging into the router during this "reduced
connectivity" period, you may want to try going into your command prompt and
type:

ipconfig \release
then after you get the IP address 000.000.000.000

Type in:

ipconfig \renew

Then your IP address should read 192.168.1.x (what ever your number in the
router is.

Hopefully that will help.

Now, if the problem is infact your router, I might suggest Netgear. I have
been using it, with no issues what so ever.

Hope this helps :)
