Linksys drivers?

View From The Hill

Just clean loaded Beta 2 on a Dell Inspiron 5160, but cannot find drivers
for my Linksys WPC54g PCMCIA card for wireless connectivity to my Linksys
WAG54g WAP. Can hook up to the internet using a wired connection to a port,
but any help in locating a driver for the WPC54g would be appreciated. Have
checked vendor site, and trawled web without success so far...

hope someone can help :)

Try manually running Windows Update and see if your driver is listed there.
You might be able to use the same driver you had before for WinXP but before
running the driver setup right click the executable file and choose the
compatability tab then select Windows XP

Cheers for that mate
tried WU already as the first step once the PC was on the net, and that did
nowt - will try the XP compatibility route next. Having said that the
Linksys exe has already been run, so I guess I need to uninstall first then
start over, which is no big deal if it all works !

thanks again

Well I still can't get it to work and resorted to contacting Linksys.
Bottom line is no Vista beta driver support and not a clue when there will
be...

helpful...

What Version WPC54G are you using?

I finally got the Linksys WPC54G v4 working using the Broadcom drivers that
Vista Initally found the card as (This model uses broadcom chip).

I had all kinds of problems with lock-ups, Drivers wouldn't load etc.

To get it working on my Fujitsu E-7010 laptop I had to disable the on-board
NIC in Device Manager (disabling in bios didn't work for me).

Has been working for me nicely...I configured the Wireless manually in the
Vista Network Center as I do not broadcast my SSID and use 128-bit WEP...I am
connecting to a WRT54G with 128-bit Wep set.
