Linksys Combo PCMCIA EthernetCard Not Listed In Network Connections

Trying to setup a Linksys Combo PCMCIA EthernetCard on an XP laptop. The
card installs using drivers from Linksys, and appears in the Device Manager
as working properly. However it does not display the associated connection
in the Network Connections window--it's completely empty.

Attempted reinstalling the device multiple times. What's up?

I've heard there are some problems with XP and multi-function PCMCIA cards
that was supposedly fixed in SP1. Installing SP1 on this computer is a pain
as it will have to be ordered on CD. Is there another solution?

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.
