I am trying to connect to the internet using a usb
wireless network adapter - and the device is not
connecting. Other computers are working and the sub
wireless device setting (ency, thresholds, etc) mirror the
other computers. Both lights on the network are on but
the IE will not engage. I believe I am missing something
on the computer setup. I've tried both ip release and
renew and neither work.

Start with the basics. Do an IPCONFIG and verify the IP settings are
in your network range. Try a PING. Check connectivity within your
network, then to outside. Check the routing and default gateway.

It's all general suggestions, but you didn't provide any useful
troubleshooting information.
