Hi,

This may or may not be a Outlook issue, even if it isn't, perhaps you
can help.

If I click in an email in Outlook (for example, on an email address),
the behaviour I'd expect is that Outlook would start me a new mail
message using that address.

However what happens instead is that the focus changes to Firefox, and
Firefox gives me the error message "Firefox doesn't know how to open
this address, because the protocol (outbind) isn't associated with any
program".

Can anyone help please?

So how would I get Outlook to take over the default for handling
mailtos?

In Control Panel, run the Folder Options applet. Select the File Types tab
and locate the "URL:MailTo Protocol" file type. The extension will be
"(NONE)" and it should be fairly near the top of the list you'll see of the
registered file types. Select that file type and click Advanced. The "Edit
File Type" dialogue should appear. In the Actions pane, select "open" and
click Edit. In the "Application used to perform action" field, it will
probably indicate FireFox. Change it to:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OfficeXX\OUTLOOK.EXE" -c IPM.Note /m "%1"

where "XX" corresponds to your Outlook version (10 for OL 2002, 11 for
OL2003, etc.), which you don't mention. Be sure to include the quotes and
spaces. Check the "Use DDE" box and make sure the Application field
contains "OUTLOOK" (no quotes) and that the Topic field contains "System"
(no quotes). Click OK, then OK, then OK, and close Control Panel. Try the
link again.

Thanks, but that's what it says already.

Any other ideas please?
