Thanks for the help.

Here's a vague description of the problem, heh.

When clicking on a link from a program other than Internet
Explorer, IE fails to open the page and rarely gives an
error message.

When clicking such a link, the IE window opens but the
page will be blank as well as the address line.

If I have IE already open when clicking on such a link the
problem does not occur, although a second IE window is
usually used to execute the link, leaving the original
window, blank or not waiting to be closed.

Clean install of Windows XP Proffessional
Internet Explorer Version 6.0
All Critical updates installed.

Can someone tell me what is causing this and how to repair
it?

Thanks again.
Frank

afterthought = A good example of this problem would be a
link to a software developer's homepage from the help
menu's about box (again referring to programs other than
IE)
