Links dont work in certain websites when browsed using IE 6.0 help?

that link above is an example, when i click on Scan for
updates, it doesnt work, as evidenced by the fact that it
doesnt scan for updates or go to the next page.

it does this with other websites, i click on the link,
but it doesnt go to the next page. another example would
be www.tvguide.com/listings , when i click on the tv show
or movies to read a description about it, there should be
a pop up window for the summary, but it doesnt show up.

i am also registering for classes in college, an when i
click the links, they dont work, it doesnt go to the
next page.

there are certain links i can click on that works, but
those 3 are the main ones i have encountered so far that
doesnt work.

any tips on how to configure it so that when i click the
links it will work.

I installed Netscape 7.1, all the links work fine,
including the 3 that did not work in IE 6.0
