Links Buttons

Is there any way to make the various buttons on the links
bar smaller than the inch and 1/2 or so that they
currently are? I know you can make the "standard" buttons
larger or smaller, but cant figure out how to do it with
links

The buttons can be made smaller if the name that is displayed on them is
reduced. For instance, if you have a button that has "Microsoft Windows
Update", you could right click on this button on the links bar and select
rename. By changing it to "MS WU" for instance, the length of the button
will significantly reduce. Do this for as many of the buttons as you can.
