Links bar

Every time I start my computer and go to Microsoft
Explorer I find my "Links bar" has collapsed of to the
right and my "Text options" have changed from "Show text
labels, my choice, to "Selective text on the right". How
do I get the Links bar and Show text labels to stay put?
The "Lock the tool bars" doesn't seem to help. I am using
Microsoft XP Home edition, Microsoft Explorer 6 on a HP
Pavilion 450.
