Links and moving documents and directories

Hello,

In my main folder I created a Word document with links to subfolder (where
videos and such are). When viewed in word, i can Ctrl-click the links and my
movies work.

I have moved this folder from my C: drive to my network P:. I have worked
on the Word document from P: but have not touched the links. I then recopied
the Word document in the original main folder on my C and burn a CD with the
document and subfolders.

When you open the Word document from the CD-Rom, my links don't work...

Anyway to update the links? I have over 100...

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

L.

I play sometimes with links to Excel sheets, and indeed the links are
absolute references, not relative. Assuming you talk about Word 2003
(I dont know 2007), you can change links by Edit/Links... [Change
Source...].

More cleverly, when you have so many links as you say, you can do a
find/replace on links. Then you need to create a similar subfolder
structure first, so as not to update them one by one. Change all
fields to their codes first by <Alt-F9>. Then change the paths by
Replace.
