Linking Word to Excel

I have an excel sheet that I have linked to a word doc. The problem I have is
when I use the excel for a different client (and save it as a different .xls
file) I lose the links to the word doc. I don't want to use Access.
Is there a solution?
 
If you can't help then I'd prefer you stay out of it rather than being a
smart aleck
 
More than happy to help if you take the trouble to ask an intelligible
question. As it is, your question could mean just about anything.
 
Just to elaborate on Jezebel's quite valid point...

You do not mention:

What version of Office,
What version of Windows,
Are these OLE Links or HyperLinks,
When you save the 'different' .xls are you saving to a different folder,
drive, etc.

These people are quite knowledgeable & helpful, but *not* clairvoyant.
