I have inserted a picture in the my document (Fig 1) , now I have trying to
create a lnk to that image later in the document. I want to be able to create
a link everything I mention Fig 1 so the person reading the document can
click on the link and have the document move to display the picture. Is this
possible?

Insert | Reference | Cross-reference to Figure | Only label and number, with
"Insert as hyperlink" checked (as it is by default).

I followed the steps but I do not see an option to select the picture. Do I
need to insert the picture in a different way?

In order to use the Cross-reference to Figure, you must first insert a
numbered caption on the figure (either select the figure and use Insert >
Reference > Caption, or just right-click the figure and choose Caption).

In the Cross-reference dialog, set the "Reference type" dropdown to Figure.
You should see all the captions listed below that.

Thanks, Jay. Yes, sorry, Confused Office User. I assumed from your reference
to "Fig. 1" that you had already inserted a caption.
