Linking Tasks to Reminders

I would like a reminder to pop up when an entry in my Task List is overdue.

When I select the Reminder box in a new task item, I get an error message
that "The reminder will not appear because the item is not in your Calender
or Tasks folder." Is there a way for tasks to automatically input into my
caldender? Is the item not already in the Tasks folder by virtue of the fact
that it is a task?

Right now, the Task List is in my personal Outlook folder. Would I still be
able to link Task items to my Calender reminder if the Task List were in a
shared Public Folder?

Unless you use a 3rd party addin a task reminder will only fire from the
default Tasks folder (in the mail store where you get your email delivered),
not in tasks subfolders or in non-default PST files or public folders.
