linking excel data into a powerpoint table

Hi. I regularly have to churn out long powerpoint presentations in a
very short time span after I receive data. The data comes in Excel in
a very predictable format, so linking chart datasheets to Excel files
is very useful. However, I haven't been able to figure out how to link
Excel data into Powerpoint tables. I don't want to do the standard
paste link because I want the table to be a Powerpoint object, not an
Excel object (this difference is the same as the difference between
having an Excel chart linked to on on Powerpoint slide, or having the
datasheet of the Powerpoint chart link to the Excel worksheet -- the
latter is much better for what I need). Does anyone know how to do
this?

Thanks!

What version of PPT do you have? It annoys me no end that Excel worksheets now
paste into PPT by default as PPT tables in 2003. Sounds like just what you
need, though. If it makes you happy, I'll cope. ;-)

If the amount of data and layout never changes, our Merge add-in might work
well for you. There's a free demo and more info at http://merge.pptools.com
