Linked sounds in powerpoint are deleted on network

My students insert sounds from clip organizer. Those are placed in Temporary
Internet Files. When they send me their Powerpoint presentations the links to
the sounds are lost. The network always deletes the Temporary Internet Files.
How can we make sure those sounds are included with the presentation when the
presentation is emailed?

PFCEXpress is interesting. I have not seen it before. Unfortunately it is not
useful to my students because they do not finish their presentations in one
session. So as soon as they log out their Temporary Internet Files are
deleted.

I've seen this before, and the problem at the time is that the sound in
Powerpoint was just what you referred to it as... a link! (as opposed to an
embedded file). The only way that we could find around this was to place a
copy of the sound file into the same folder as the ppt file. When they are
in the same folder, create the link. From here on, you should be able to
move the whole folder without breaking the connection.

Keep in mind that you don't always have to put your audio file in the same
folder as the ppt file. This solution should only be used when you are going
to be moving the files around via flash drive, etc... or accessing the ppt
file over a network.

Please let me know if this fixes your problem.

I tried that as well and sometimes the links sort of stopped working. I had
better luck with embedding files. I changed the default in powerpoint so I
could embed wav files up to 50 megs in size. Then I converted the other file
types to wav and then inserted the sound. Then the sounds were included in
the presentation. this worked almost all the time. About 5% of the time it
worked once, but upon replaying the presentation the sound was not played. It
also meant I needed to get a program to covnert files to wav. Looking for
freeware, I used Audacity, but it was unable to work with Midi files, even
though it was supposed to.
