linked excel database unable to edit

I have a linked excel database which I can no longer update in access you
kindly advised me that this is due to an office update recently downloaded,
is there a way to uninstall this download and where would I find it? Causing
major problems at work if not possible to uninstall will I have to import the
database from excel and work purely in access? Could not find my original
post in general questions to follow threads added. using office 2003 on
windows xp professional other office pcs using office xp

At the very least you can uninstall Office and re-install it. Make
sure you have the disks before you uninstall.

Note Windows XP has a feature that allows you to back out of such
changes if you have it active. Take a look at system restore. You will
likely find it in your system tools folder in the start menu.

You cannot change, add, or delete data in tables that are linked to an Excel
workbook in Office Access 2003 or in Access 2002

Note that Microsoft made this change "...due to legal reasons". One can only
hope that it is temporary.
