Linked databases on a network

I have a library database with a password that office
staff use to enter references for the office. The office
uses an intranet. I also link the three tables in that
database to another very simple database that's used only
for searching the library.

When the staff is doing data entry, nobody can access the
search database. I thought linking would allow others to
search regardless of who's entering data. I'm using Access
2000. Please help.

Go to Tools options advanced and check the state of
the "default open mode" setting

That's the problem - everyone is shared - nobody is
opening exclusively.

Thanks.
