I have always been able to hit a link in an email and get to another email
from that link. Now I can't. Has something been corrupted or changed in my
windows mail? I have gone to tools and don't see anything that pertains.
Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Make sure Windows Mail has all of its defaults.
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Windows
Mail". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

Hi Gary, It states it has all defaults. I hit the first arrow anyway.
Figured it couldn't hurt, but don't think that will do it.

Hi Gary,
I was looking through old posts and I went into IE and made it all default.
It had only 3 of 9. That did not help. I then saw something that said
mailto protocol. I don't have that. I sort of remember this challenge
before. I had put Office 07 in hoping I could have it with 03. I wanted to
learn 07 at my leisure but use 03 for nonleisure activity. I took 07 out and
I would bet this protocol is not there now. Can you direct my step by step
as to how to get this back in? Thanks for your help.

If that did not help, try this variation:
The following procedure will rewrite the default protocol
assignments in the registry:
Open the Default Programs applet, then click on "Set program
access and computer defaults." Expand the Custom selection, and
select Windows Mail. Click OK.
