Link to a spreadsheet

Hello,

On our intranet web, I have a hyperlink to a spreadsheet on a shared network
folder. The link works fine to open up the spreadsheet in the existing
window or a new window.

The question is, how do I get the sort options to show up or be available so
a user can sort based on the many columns it has?

Not asking to be able to edit it. Just want to be able to sort the data.
Can I make the sort button viewable some how. I seem to remember reading
something about this a few years ago.

Or could I have the link open the spreadsheet and launch Excel outside of
the web browser somehow?

Thank you.

The user would have to right click the link and select Save as....
Then open the file in the appropriate spread sheet program.

A typical spreadsheet file such as an Excel file can "Not" be edited live and saved back
to the server using a "standard" html web page.

All users would need to have Excel installed for the worksheet to open in Excel
- and you would need to use the Office Web Components
