Link Table to Excel

I am creating a linked table to an Excel spreadsheet. Everything is fine with
one exception. Date/Time fields in Excel are created in Access as text
fields, which is OK other than Date/Time cells that have been amended in
Excel - change tracking is activated - display '#Num!' in the Access field.
This is a problem as I need to use the linked table to update the a local
table with the changes made on the spreadsheet via an update query. After
running the update query the affected date fields are blank. I've tried both
linking (preferred) and importing with the same results. All other fields -
text and Y/N - seem to come across perfectly.

Any solutions that can be offered will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Dave,

It sounds as if there's a difference at the Excel end between "date"
fields that have and have not been edited. I think you'll get this
effect if the "unedited" cells contain text values (e.g. "18 July
2007" or "18/07/2007) but the "edited" ones contain Excel date values
(e.g. 39281, which is the date value corresponding to 18 July 2007).

If you make sure that all the values are dates, or all text, you
should be OK.
