Link error - several tables with that name

I tried to link to an ODBC table but got following error:

"There are several tables with that name.
Please specify owner in the format ‘owner.table’."

The table I selected was one of many that I have previously linked using:

File/Get external data/link tables/File Type: ODBC databases/Machine Data
Source tab/System type datafile

I don't know what was different about the one table I was trying to link to,
or what a owner.table is. How can I proceed to link to the one table that
gave me the above error?

I have never seen this in Access Data Projects

I have never seen this in Access Data Projects

And you never will, hon. ADPs have to use SQL Server (or versions thereof)
as the back end. ADPs don't have the flexibility that MDBs do as a front end
to heterogeneous back ends.
