link bars in navigation question

Tanya

Hi,
I am creating another web site and am trying to use the
navigation structure this time for uniformity and
banners. My question is this: When setting up the link bar
properties, how can I make sure that the current page
being viewed is not a part of the link bar? The home page
is fine but if I click on a link to go to another page,
the title of the page being displayed is also included in
the link bar. Can this be avoided? In order to use the
banner from the theme I have chosen I have to include link
bars or I lose the banner, otherwise I would just create
link bars for each page. Can anyone offer any guidance ?
The books and tutorials I already have don't cover this
issue. Thank you.

No, not in a Link Bar Based On Navigation Structure.
In order to use the banner from the theme I have chosen I

Use a Link Bar With Custom Links.
The books and tutorials I already have don't cover this
issue. Thank you.

You can view the website in FP navigation view. The page you don't want
added to the navigation structure right click. One of the options should
be 'Included in Navigation Bars.' Click on this and the page gets greyed
out. (I'm using FP 2002. I assume it works in 2000 as well.) The page
will now no longer appear in any navigation bars unless you make a custom
bar. See the 'help' menu for this.

If you're wanting FP to create the navigation structure, then plan how you
lay things out in navigation view carefully. Also be careful about
navigation bars within shared borders. It's usually a bad idea to put
anything but a global navigation bar into a shared border.

If you use FP to create your navigation bars, remember that each time you
change the site and the larger it grows the more resources FP will take to
compute the navigation. Reading this newsgroup shows that some people's
computers don't have enough memory and will lock up. Also most people in
the newsgroup seem to prefer custom links.

Hope this helped.
