I have inserted a Link bar based on the navigation and
designated the child level which is fine however when I
add the parent page, it inserts an Up. I would prefer to
have the page title displayed insted.
Is there some way I can Control this?

XP FP 2002

sure!
just right click the offending bar, chose properties, on the right side of
this dialog box there are options you can click and unclick. just remove
the "parent" option.
in order to allow the people a way back "up", just add another bar to all
the pages using (child pages under home).

this assumes your nav structure is only three levels deep, but can be done
in all sorts of different ways for more complicated structure.

Not when you use this type of navigation. Remember that Up may not
always point to the same page. Depending on your navigation layout,
there may be several layers where you have a parent page.
You can however change the text to something different. Just remember
that it must be equally broad in what it says. This is mostly for people
writing Web pages in languages other than English.
You find it in Tools | Site Settings. (Web Settings in older versions of
FP).

It is only 3 levels deep. This is the 2nd and 3rd levels
using Child level. If I use Child under home it gives me
the 1st and 2nd level which I don't want here. All I
want to do is add the parent page (2nd level or up) to
the third level and have it display tha page title notthe
word up.
