Link a note to a received e-mail

you can put a short "note" in the for follow up field (up to 255
characters). you can edit the received message and enter a note or insert a
note into it. Or you can use contact linking to link a contact to a note.
You can't pin a note to a message unless you install a utility.

OutNote (linked at http://www.slipstick.com/addins/tasks.asp) will allow you
to pin a note to a message.

I'm a bit leery of an extension program to Outlook (it uses an add-on
but also runs a separate external program and why there is an option to
load/unload OutNote when Outlook loads/unloads) that refuses to load
when it detects a "monitor" program (which it doesn't adequately
define). Gee, a monitor program. Could be antivirus, HIPS,
anti-malware, or any other security program.

When I load Outlook which also tries to load OutNote, a popup appears
saying "Themida. A monitor program has been found running in your
system. Please, unload it from memory and restart your program." Right
now, the only "monitor" programs that are running are Avast antivirus
and Windows Defender. Nope, I'm not abandoning security software
because of some undeclared need by OutNote to have unfettered access to
my host or the Internet.

This message is initiated by the loading of the OutNote add-on when you
load Outlook but the error popup actually originates from the separate
external outnote.exe program.

Also, when you run this program, it will create a Start -> Programs ->
OutNote folder that adds shortcuts to "Buy OutNote now" and "Visit our
web site". After installation, I moved the OutNote folder to be a
subfolder in my MS Office folder in the Start menu. I'm not interesting
in nagware that regenerates folders in my Start menu trying to get me to
buy their product. So there is a cost to their "free" version.

Their options tab for OutNote added to Outlook's Tools -> Options panel
is also screwed up. Part of the oversized buttons are lopped off on the
right side. Because their main program refuses to load, nothing happens
when you click on the option buttons.

So that test failed. I'll be uninstalling OutNote and doing some
cleanup of remnants. Maybe xxx will have better luck.
