Line Numbering Problem

Hi,

I have a long document for which I need every line of text numbered. I've
achievd this through "file/page setup/line numbers" and through "highlighting
the entire text/bullets and numbering". The problem is if I add text to a
particular line so it carries over to the next line, or I hit the return key,
it autonumbers the next line. I don't want it to autonumber at all. However,
turning off the auto-correct options have no effect. Any ideas? Thanks in
advance.

Line numbering is just that: every line is numbered. So if text runs over to
a new line, it is numbered. Paragraph numbering, which you seem also to have
applied, numbers only paragraphs, so runover lines won't be numbered, but if
you press Enter, you are beginning a new paragraph, which will be numbered.

Are you saying that you are pressing Enter twice to create spacing between
paragraphs? Use some Spacing Before (or Spacing After) instead (Format |
Paragraph); that way, you can add spacing without getting a blank line that
has a number.

Alternatively, if you want to number paragraphs rather than text lines, turn
off the line numbering.
