Line chart with secondary axis

I am trying to modify a bar/line chart with a secondary axis into a line
chart (2 data series) with a secondary axis. Or said differently, I would
like both data series displayed as lines. Is there a way to do that in a PP
chart? Without going through Excel?

Alternatively, is there an easy way to format an imported Excel chart in
PowerPoint so the chart looks fine when a color scheme is applied to the
slide (right now the black axis, axis labels, etc. from the Excel chart
disappear in the blue background of the PP slide)?

Thanks.

This is how I would go about something like this

- get the data from excel (e.g just the numbers that make up the graph)
- so in excel select the numbers > edit >copy
- in powerpoint create a new graph
- while the little spreadsheet is displayed in powerpoint - edit > paste
your numbers
- then choose "chart type" > line
- then click once on one of your lines on the chart
- then double click the same line
- on the menu that pops up choose the 'axis' tab along the top
- then click "secondary axis"

you should now have a line chart that uses 2 axis

Click the Excel chart on the PPT slide and then View | Toolbars | Picture
toolbar. On the Picture toolbar, click "recolor." More info at

To change the bar/line to just lines, right-click and choose Chart Type.
(You can also do this when you select just one data series to change only
that data series to, say, a line. This is useful for creating column+line
charts.) Select the line chart. Then right-click a data series, choose
Format Data Series, then on the Axis tab, choose Secondary.
