line across laptop screen

My laptop has developed a thin line across the display about one third of the
way up . As near as I can tell it coincided with the removal of a USB digital
camera lead following download.

System restore does not remove it.

An suggestions please?

This is usually a hardware fault, either in the video chip or in the
screen. Unless you were wildly rough and damaged the motherboard when
you removed the camera - unlikely, but perhaps you left out the bit
about the flash of electrical light and smoke that came out of your
machine ;-) - doing that was probably coincidental. Contact the laptop
mftr. for repair/replacement.
