limited users have problems with programs

Catherine Coen

I recently moved up to XP pro from 98SE and I am having a few problems.
I hope someone can help.
1 - limited user accounts can't always access programs or games installed as
admin. (I.E. MSN has to be installed on each user for them to access it and
Real Player Arcade can't be run because they don't have permission for the
automatic registry updates.)
2 - starting Office programs starts the windows installer even after
repeated uses
3 - opening pdf online starts Adobe Reader, but then Windows Journal Viewer
starts to install and then locks up or can't find the install program (this
doesn't happen if I start Reader from desktop).
That's a few of the biggies, thank you in advance for any help!

I'm having the same problem with Acrobat 6. Every time someone other than myself runs it in their user space, it tries to launch Windows Journal Viewer and canot find files. Tried upgrading the other user to full access, but this did not help.

Hi Ken,

I'm having the same problem with Acrobat 6. Every time someone other than myself runs it in their user space, it tries to launch Windows Journal Viewer and canot find files. Tried upgrading the other user to full access, but this did not help.

Journal viewer is a viewer for files that come from a PC tablet. You
don't need journal viewer installed. Just uninstall the journal viewer
update. Windows update has an update for journal viewer and if you do
all updates including this then you will get the problem with journal
viewer trying to run when Acrobat is started. Go to the Control Panel,
Add & Remove Programs and remove the update that was installed.

Good luck
