Hi Jason,
Firstly it's not my procedure. The data is from the web site pchell. What
part are you referring to "Windows says it requires a binary file" ??

How do I debug limited or No Connectivity of Lan Connection? Thanks, Jason
Sachs.

Post back here on the result- good or bad

Thank you for your reply. I believe the problem was mine. Upon double clicking the file FixReg.reg windows indicates that the line of input requires a binary value perhaps because of the =dword from REGEDIT. I accidently left out the line of text 'Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00' which I took as comments, which I believe caused the message when omitted.

I wish to additionally add some information to my problem. The patch from
the article did not fix the problem. The connection still has limited
connectivity. Upon following the advice from M/S KB314067 I further
examined my connection. I discover when I request "Obtain an IP address
automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" I have no DNS
Server or Default Gateway provided When I try the command ipconfig/renew
the message I get is "unable to contact your DHCP server. Why would Windows
be unable to return a DNS server or Default Gateway?
