Limited Office Desk Space

Hello I have a desktop pc and a Dell laptop with Inspirion replicator. I
would like to be able to use the keyboard and mouse that is connected to the
replicator with both pcs when docked. And when undocked I would like to be
able to use the notebook wireless and let my wife still use "her" pc.

The computers are connected to the internet just fine. Docking station and
desktop are hardwired to the router and then to cable. The laptop works fine
when wireless.

Scanner, printer, and other shared devices are all connected to a UCB hub
with the main UCB connection to the desktop pc.

What I was planning to do is to connect the UCB hub to the replicator. And
also connect the keyboard, mouse, and monitor to the replicator. Will this
work? Do I need an A/B switch somewhere in between?

Is there someone at Dell who can help with such problems?

Thanks for reading and pondering this.

Sincerely,
jim

No, I did not contact Dell. Shame on me for being lazy!! I will search Dell
to see what I can find. Thank you for bringing me to task.

You need what is called a KVM switch - Keyboard, Video and Mouse. It will
allow you to use any combination to share one keyboard, one mouse and one
Video Monitor between multiple PCs and/or Laptops (a good one runs about 200
or so US dollars). Most of the time you'll see them in Server Rooms,
allowing access to maintain many servers from just one set of HID (Human
Interface Devices).
