Limitations of FTP in Windows XP

I have client who runs all Windows XP Pro machines in his business.
he needs to have FTP configured that will allow users to FTP in and download
large files...Each Person has a secure folder and only should have access to
his folder
I have configured this same setup in windows server 2003...and it works
fine...
but are there limitations to FTP in Windows XP like the limitations of HTTP
in XP
or should this work....This is a peer to peer network with no domain server

Windows XP does not contain an FTP server, so you'd first need to add one to
each computer before you could consider any answers to these questions.

The specific limitations in Windows XP are redirector based, which I believe
fall outside the nature of FTP. So FTP should not affect the inbound connection
limit.

That said, what businesses is safe exposing its desktop systems, using FTP
servers? Hopefully the clients computers are behind a secure firewall? The
security implications are staggering. Would it not be safer to use a single,
hardened FTP server in a DMZ?
