i've read the other thread, mccoy. it's not that John is a super smart guy
(though he is, in fact, very smart and very knowledgable about Access, and
has been helping many people in these newsgroups for years), or that he gave
answers that could only be understood by somebody who is super smart. from
reading the other thread, and this one, it appears to me that you want help
but aren't willing to do any of the legwork yourself. you could have read up
on the If statement in VBA Help, then John wouldn't have had to explain the
function and its' arguments to you. you could have said that you don't
understand what a SQL WHERE clause is, or what primary and foreign key
fields are, and how they work in joined tables; John or someone else could
have explained them, or directed you toward resources that would help you
expand your knowledge of Access to the point where you could understand the
instructions you were given.
Access is not a plug-n-play tool. It's a complex tool that gives ordinary
people like you and me the means to create very powerful and flexible
applications, IF we're willing to invest the time and do the work.
