Unfiltering a subform has problems

If I filter on selection in a subform, when I remove the filter the main form
returns to Record Number 1 and the subform is no longer limited to just the
records associated with the main form.

The main form's records source is a table and the subform's record source is
another table. There is a defined one-to-many relationship between the main
form's record source and the subform's record source.

How can I use filter by selection and the remove the filter and still have
my main form and my subform in synch?
