Licensing with smb server

B

Brett Taft

My clients are receiving an error saying that there are no
licenses available for an smb server.

Here is the message I'm receiving in the event viewer

No license was available for user GSLELECTRIC\KBRUUN using
product SMBServer 5.0.

The event id = 201

These clients are connecting to a SQL server that is
supposed to have a per processor licensing confiuration.
The strange thing is that everything I've seen in the
knowledge base is refering me to a terminal services
licensing issue. I do have a terminal server, but the
users whom keep having the issues are not connecting via
terminal server

Hi Brett,

Event 201 means that the domaincontroller is out of licences.
(202 would mean that another server is out of licenses.)

Stop and disable the license logging service on the server and keep track of
your licenses manually.
