License error

My WIN 2k server keeps giving us a error "license usage
for product SMBServer 5.0 is nearing the maximum number of
per server licenses purchased. Consult license Manager
from Administrative tools folder for more information." We
have purchased more than enough license for this server,
and the problem started where we would have to reboot once
enough to clear and it has become worse where we have to
reboot daily.

We don't have a problem adding license, in fact we already
have plenty of license, but for some reason we are getting
this SMBServer 5.0 warning.

Thanks

I have the same problem, and have so far not been able to resolve it.
The only difference is that my client is also using terminal services.
We have upped both licences and can get another couple of users on
however as both were increased by 5 this is not a very good return fo
the money! I can see the XP Pc's also showing as taking up a sessio
(via Manage computer, shared folders/sessions) but we still don'
actualy get to the theoretical maximum even if you include these.
Have you had any luck or does this help anyone else to throw some ligh
on the problem

.
I have had no luck with anything we tried, For some reason
it will not release the license until we reboot.

I’m having a similar problem. I have a Win2000 terminal server in
application mode with 25 user licenses and 25 terminal cal as well.
With only 10 users connecting, it works fine for a while but they are
eventually refused a connection because the server ran out of
licenses.

I go in Computer Manager\Shared Folders\Sessions and see some users
have 5 sessions all under the same name. When I kill one of them, all
the others vanish. That frees up those 5 licenses and my users can log
on again.

I need to find the reason the server is keeping the old sessions and
not flushing them.

If anyone has a clue please let me know.

Thanks.

.:mmac:.

are they "logging off" or "disconnecting"?
IF disconnecting, their session will remain for quite a while. They need to
"log off"

They are all login off.

I explicitly told them to log off and not disconnect because
disconnecting would leave a session (and a terminal licence) in use.
