License Checking XP Home Edition

When I start my system I get:

A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for
this computer. Error code: 0x80070002.

I tried to boot in safe mode, no go. There is absolutely nothing I can do to
login. The last time I used my computer I was using Ms Outlook and thats it.
I want to avoid a repair reinstall coz I want to avoid losing contents in My
Documents folder.

Please help.
