License Activation Error 0x80090019

Bert

I've been running XP since January with no problems.
Changed to NTFS from FAT yesterday and updated numerous
Critical Updates from MS Update page.

Now, system won't start. After login, I receive "WINDOWS
PRODUCT ACTIVATION - A problem is preventing windows from
accurately checking the license for the computer - ERROR
CODE 0x80090019." The machine then reboots itself,
cycling back to the same problem.

Can begin to start in SAFE MODE but once the YES NO for
SAFE MODE is displayed, either choice locks the system.

I've searched extensively on MS Knowledgebase. Nothing
comes close. I haven't changed the hardware config.

Boot up into safe mode and verify your drive letters have not changed
If all tht looks good, have you plugged in a new device that might com
up with a drive letter? It may be replacing your C: drive letter
Unplug this device (if it exists).

Otherwise, choose a restore point. This is pretty much your only othe
option.
