lexmark z22 won't work when i install new ink

I put black ink in the printer and now the cartridge light flashes 3 times.
Tried uninstalling but that didn't work.

This is reported as a component failure. First thing to check is the cartrdige
you have just installed, it may be faulty. Otherwise there is an internal
printer failure and whatever that is it would be cheaper to replace this aging
printer than to have it repaired.

My niece couldn't get her black to print until I reminded her to remove
the tape. If you did, check that there isn't adhesive residue.
