I'm not familiar with the printer but normally in a lower end printer there
are two cartridges, one for black ink and one for tri-color (cyan, magenta
and yellow). BOTH must be installed for printing to work.

(Higher end photo printers have 4, 6 or 8 separate cartridges, black, cyan,
magenta, yellow, photo magenta, photo cyan, red and green.)

Well they do when the company produces stocks of said cartridges! I'm having
to ration prints because Canon have told my supplier that they will have no
stocks of red or green tanks until the end of *JULY* at the earliest!

Why release a unit if you're not yet manufacturing the cartridges?! Epson
are just as bad! I've no experience with either HP or Lexmark as I've never
owned either.

Just be glad you're not in the UK. I've heard from several folks it could
be early 2005 before the BCI-6 green and red inks arrive there.

Oh July will be here soon enough.... and then so will Christmas! We're
already at 106 degrees here daily, personally I'm looking forward to late
September when we WON'T have a triple digit day.

And DVD burning folks face the same thing... you can go out today and buy a
dual layer DVD burner. Roxio EMC v7 is well prepared with their software,
it's already listed as an option

No dual layer media available until end July at the earliest!!

Ho hum. Just an everyday problem of left hand not knowing what the right is
doing!

I can't keep up! I'm not in a very good mood at the moment as my father
slammed the lid down on my £400 scanner and cracked the glass under the lid
(it's a Perfection 4870 and it dual scans (ICE)). He denies doing it.
Fortunately, it's still under warranty, but I'm not sure I'm covered for
acts of idiot parent!

Well if you will live practically in the desert! It was 25°C (77°F) here
today and that's plenty warm enough for me! At 41°C I'd melt! I don't envy
your electric bill! You should move back home, girl! Tell him he can damned
well learn to like it over here! I couldn't afford to live over there. The
NHS might have its flaws (and great chasms they might be) but I couldn't
afford Medicare! My great-aunt could, but she thought she could play the
system by getting friends (and family!) to lie for her! She got her
comeuppance though, when her usually very mild-mannered SIL (my late
grandfather's youngest sister) told her where to go. Basically she was
giving doctors relatives home addresses as her own and that she was going to
the States "on holiday". Well, she was caught and ordered to pay back
everything she stole! I'm laughing as I type this because she didn't think
that (at 75) she'd need insurance! I hate her - I really can't stand the
woman. I'd divorce myself from that side of the family completely if I
didn't have three smashing second cousins.

Sorry - that was a rant. Please ignore.

We all need to rant every now and then, it does us good. Didn't the scanner
fall off the desk accidentally??? I got the LiDE80 because it's USB2.0,
fast and does negatives and positives and I make very nice pictures from
35mm movie film trailers.

Nothing really wrong with triple digits. Nice natural solar heat to keep my
pool warm. I could never get a pool warm enough in the UK (hell, who in the
UK has a pool in their back garden!) and it is nice to go swimming after
fixing a few printers!

77F. That's cold. 11.51pm and it's just about 90F.

LOL!! That's a good point. Mind you, if they came here and saw where it was
situated they wouldn't believe it. It's a mighty solid beast.

Who has a pool in their back garden?! Round here - practically everyone
(not, us though, or our two immediate neighbours, the house four down does
though). There's a road in the centre of town where every house costs
upwards of £1.5million - and they *ALL* have pools. Most of those also have
their own gyms, saunas, Turkish baths, jacuzzis, steam rooms, etc. They're
practially health clubs! And the pools all have retractable roofs and
optional heating systems. Several of them also have grass tennis courts and
one has a football pitch (only 5 a side, but even so!)

It's even colder here today - 75°. This is T-shirt weather for us! Dad got
the shorts out when it wasn't even 68°!
