Lexmark 3200 printer and scaner

I have a printer and scaner that I want to install. The
printer hooks into the scaner and then the scaner hooks
into the only printer port I have on the comp. When I
pluged them both in, the comp. recognized the printer
again(which was already installed)and wouldn't install
it, and it wouldn't recognize the scanner. It also
wouldn't give up on installing the printer, it would try
and then give the error-the printer could not be
installed. the specified port is not found. Does anyone
know how I can get this to work?

It's my understanding that WinXP will not permit this type of
connection. If one of the devices can connect via USB, do that. If
both devices can only connect via a parallel port, you'll have buy and
install an additional parallel port. These are pretty inexpensive
(around $20 or so)
