Ok here is the deal.I purchased a Dell Laptop.It came with Windows XP home
edition installed.It also came with a copy disc of The Windows XP.My brillant
son decided to tryand load the disc into our older Pc running Windows 95.It
some how took it or so my brother says,He has no idea how when it does not
have enough Memerory,but he looked at it and said it did.Anyway The 30 day
trial period ran out and now is telling me I have to register it with the
product code.Once again my brother says it is not good.He thinks if I
register it it will screw up my laptop since that is what it was ment for.
My question...Do I register it? and if not howdo I get it off my older PC
and return to the original settings? I do not have a recovery disc and or the
old Windows 95 disc.Is my older PC junk now? I mean it is junk anyway being
that old,but my son only wanted it to chat online.Any info would be grate or
am I to just trash it?

You'll need to purchase a conventional "Full Version" of
Windows XP Home Edition and perform a "Repair Install".

Is that worth it on a PC using Windows 95 origanally?

To begin with if the 95 machine doesn't have at least 256mb of ram (512mb
would be better) there is no point in keeping xp on it because it will be
extremely slow. Being a win 95 machine it probably is around the pentium
166mhz time, this in itself is marginal as to whether its worth worrying
about. Although win 95 would be hard to find win 98 se should be more
availiable and would boost the performance of the pc. look for a copy of
win98se it'll be way easier to find....

Look in the newspaper ads on eBay for a copy of Windows 95, the old computer
is too old to run XP. You will need to install clean, so try to find the
Windows 95 b version or Windows 98SE full versions. No upgrade. Don't pay a
lot because the computer is basically worthless.
