Leave on server settings lost when Outlook closed and re-opened

I am using POP3 to download emails from my ISP, and would like to leave the
messages on the server for webmail access. I have checked the "leave on
server" box on both accounts. For one account, the box remains checked after
exiting Outlook and reopening it which is expected. But for the other
account, at the same ISP, the box is cleared when Outlook is closed and then
reopened.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Pete

Try creating a new mail profile, adding into it your existing PST and
recreating your accounts.

Brian,

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately it didn't work. Here is what I did:

1) deleted email account and closed outlook
2) renamed outcmd.dat
3) renamed outlook.srs
4) opened outlook and created new email account, checked "leave on server"
5) closed outlook
6) opened outlook. The "leave on server" box was unchecked.

Can you think of anything else I could try?

Yes, I can think of something else: what I originally suggested. Create a
new mail profile. I did not say "recreate your mail account." You create a
mail profile with Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>Add

Brian,

Sorry, I didn't get it the first time. That worked.

Thanks,
Pete

Sorry for my ignorance guys.
How do you do the "leave on server" thing?
Where is that setting?

Thanks!

On the Advanced tab of your account properties pages.

Hi - since you've posted this without including the original message as a
quote, it's a little vague.

That said, I'm guessing you want to download your POP mail in Outlook and
leave a copy of mail on the POP server. It's a checkbox in your mail account
settings - if you're using OLXP/2003 it's in the more settings button - look
around.

Brian,
I know that this original thread is old but I have had the same problem
after I had to reinstall Office 2002 and dowload all of the updates (SP3),
"leave on server" gets unchecked.
I created a new profile as you suggested following the kbQ287072 "How to
creat a New Profile with an email account" and recreated the email accounts
and directed Outlook to start with the new profile. The box still does not
stay checked.
Any further ideas?
thanks
Joel
