LDAP Server question

I am new to Outlook 2002 and I am wondering how does the LDAP server
works?

I have a annoying problem accessing my address book. Outlook 2002
looks for the LDAP server and does not find it and beeps a error
message. This goes on for a while then it stops it allows me to load
up my address book or Contacts list.

You can remove the LDAP address book by select Tools | Email accounts |
view\change address books.
