launching a network pdf file in IE via command line

Hi all,

Is it possible to launch a pdf file in IE via command line. I tried:
start http://"servershare/doc/abc.pdf"
and the command seems to launch an IE instance correctly but it does not
work.

Any comments is appreciated, TIA
