There are actually a few ways you can start a program at start-up.
- One way is to right click then drag the executable of the program you
want to the startup folder and choose copy from the window that shows up.
- Now close all windows log off and back on
- Program will auto start
Another way is to do this:
- First you need to find the executable you want to auto start and then
right click it and choose copy
- You need to define the profile you want this program to start
automatically on login with (All Users or a particular profile)
- Next go to x:\documents and settings\<profile name> (X is the letter of
your system partition and the profile name is either All Users or your
particular user profile)
(I will go from the All Users profile from here on out)
- Next go to X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
- Right click inside the folders content area and choose paste
- Now close all windows log off and back on
- Program will auto start
Both of these ways will auto start a program, if the program starts by
clicking an executable (.exe, .bat, etc..). If you need to open a certain
file, like a certain word document, you could use the same steps. As long
as the program the file is opened in is registered in the registry, it
should auto start.
