Latest IE6 closes upon exiting file from latest adobe pdf reader

ISSUE: IE closes every time I exit/close after viewing a pdf file. Upon
selecting the link or document for viewing, system recognizes adobe with no
problem. It opens in a separate window...no problem. I can save, scroll,
print, etc....no problem. The minute I close the window...ie crashes with no
specific error. It does the same thing everytime...a window comes up stating
the IE has encountered a problem and it needs to shut down...requests if I
want to send an error log...which I do everytime. It's getting very, very
annoying now after months and months. It started after I updated my McAfee
which also gave me the update from adobe 5 to 6.

GENERAL INFO: I run on Win 2000 Professional and use McAfee Internet
Security Suite 6. I've got all of the latest updates and am running IE
version 6.0.2800.1106IS and running adobe acrobat reader version 6.0.2.

DIAGNOSTICS: I've read through the related postings but I've performed all
of the suggestions and then some, I think. I've run a repair on adobe from
the control panel (change/remove programs) and directly in adobe program
(help-detect and repair). I've spent time with McAfee who doubled checked
settings. I've searched adobe troubleshooter for answers but no avail. I've
searched Microsoft knowledge base with no avail. I think that I did an
uninstall/reinstall for adobe but wouldn't know where to start to do that
with IE.

Anyone got any other ideas or double checks or suggestions or anything??
Greatly appreciate your time!!!

Ok...I sat down again today to try and figure out how to disable the error
reporting tool in IE6 for WIN2000 but could not. I reread your kind link,
Sandi, but I still could not find any reference on disabling the error
reporting tool. I then went to the Knowledge Base and found article 310116
which instructs me to change a value in the reg key but string
"IEWatsonEnabled" does not exist.

So, I'm back to the error reporting tool which won't allow me to copy it's
data file contents. This is some of the information on the error report in
case it helps at all:

Error Signature
AppName: iexplore.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: pdf.ocx
ModVer: 6.0.2.126
Offset: 0002f5db
Then the actual data contains -
Exception Information
System Information
Modules 1-92 (plus more info)
Thread 1-17 (plus more info)
Memory Range 1-19 (pluas more info)

If someone could either assist with turing off the error reporting tool or
tell me what you might need from the data file in the error report then I'd
greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Becca

Hi Becca,

pdf.ocx is related to Acrobat. Update/reinstall Acrobat Reader.

Thank you-it seems to be working fine now! I feel so silly not to have tried
that in the diagnostic stages...
